As an A2 student, going to plan the short film of 'Two Men'
whereby putting the script onto screen, I feel that a lot of time and
rational thinking would need to be accountable in order for this to be a
success and be symmetrical to the original short film.
Casting
Issues would definitely be a factor to take into consideration when
planning to make this film. Getting the right cast members are vital as
they would need to fit the part of what exactly the casting directors
are looking at. A way in which production could cast the actors for the
film is through casting websites, this will then help to narrow down the
searches for the right actors as they would have to have specific
features, such as: being comfortable in front of a camera, having a
clear voice in which the audience would have to understand them clearly.
As for the two men running, casting them they would have to have
specific needs also: such as being able to run long distances for a
certain amount of time. Another way in which the production team would
cast the actors could be, advertising the short film auditions in a
local newspaper as this would create awareness, especially to aspiring
actors whom would like to have a chance of being in a short film.
As
the short film is filmed in a derelict area, production team would need
to get permission from that certain borough in order for crew to start
filming. Also as I can gather that the short film was not filmed in
England, travel expenses would need to be taken into consideration.
Another element of location would be whereby the bystander is in front
of shutter as the scene film progresses this would suggest that they are
owned by people as the production team would also need to get
permission from this also.
Timings would be vital as meeting
deadlines are crucial especially for this short film this is because
deadlines would need to be met precisely, especially if the film is
going to be entered in competitions. Also timing is vital as the short
film is set in the daytime, elements such as natural lighting would need
to be taken into consider as if not followed by a schedule the lose of
lighting could deter the overall output of the film.
I feel
that costumes would not be an issue with is getting. I feel this is due
to the characters in the short film wearing quite casual clothing. If on
a tight budget, production team or the actors themselves could possibly
go charity shops to ask for donations or get the clothes second hand as
this would not put a big dent in the budget. If the actors could
possibly provide their own clothing for the film, this would decrease a
massive cost when doing so. As all of the actors in the short film have
not got any flamboyant costumes.
